MUMBAI: According to several tabloids reports, two of the top-notch actors in Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan, seems to have lost their charisma to lure distributors towards them with just their names only.
The biggest reason that has contributed in non-demand for Hrithik and Abhishek, is recent bombing of both stars big budget films like ‘Kites’ and ‘Raavan’ irrespectively.
“Both Hrithik and Abhishek’s last film - Kites and Raavan- were turkeys. The buyer Reliance lost tons of money. The corporate are a bit wary about taking on their next films at unreasonable prices,” revealed a source familiar with the matter.
Both stars films were marketed aggressively but
to everyone’s disappointment failed to make mark at the box-office.
The films not just disappointed audiences but also made distributors wary of investing huge chunk of money in big budget films.
There was a time when either stars name alone guaranteed the sale of the film. But those days seems to be a thing of past now.
As per the sources, Hrithik-Kareena starrer ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and Abhishek-Kangana starrer ‘Game’ has failed to woo distributors and are still unsold.
Reportedly, Ritesh Siddhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment want to sell both films as a twin package deal for close to Rs 100 crore.
Apparently, they had sent out their proposals to two of the leading corporate houses but so far none has shown eagerness to contact them.
When contacted a senior official at one of the corporate house by the filmmakers, the official revealed, “It’s a huge high-value acquisition, which can’t happen overnight. We are going to scan the entire deal before we take any decision.”
"But yes, the asking rate (in the twin deal in question) is definitely high. It is left to us whether to pay that much or not. Think of it, there are very few people left who can buy films for huge amounts. Hrithik’s trajectory is not good. Abhishek’s trajectory is not great either.
