Germany has 24-hour milk station

BERLIN: A German dairy farmer has opened a 24-hour milk dispensing station on his farm and is doing booming business, according to a UK-based news agency. The station, called “Milchtankstelle,” is located near Cologne, one of the largest cities in Germany. Customers obtain their milk from a steel vending machine, using either bottles brought from home or purchased on the spot. "I only had a few customers before I opened the station because they had to come at set milking times, which was a problem. Now they can buy my milk whenever they want," the farmer, Bruno Stauf, said, according to the news agency. The milk costs 70 cents per liter, putting the price higher than at supermarkets. Stauf, however, is confident about the quality of his milk, "There's a lot more protein and fat in it because it is not treated like the milk you get in normal supermarkets,” he said in a report. Stauf’s milk station cost him 12,000 euros in total, but if his new business continues doing as well as it is, he is sure the cost will be covered.
