Lady Gaga defends meat dress

Pop star Lady Gaga has defended the infamous meat dress she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards held recently.

The singer, known for her bizarre dressing sense, wore a garment made from raw animal products, and said she wore the dress to encourage people to stand up for their rights, reports contactmusic.com.

"As you know, I am the most judgement-free human being on the earth. If we don't stand up for what we believe in and don't stand up for our rights, pretty soon we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones," said Gaga.

However, animal activist organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was not impressed with her explanation and warned it could lead to people boycotting the singer's music.

"Wearing a dress made out of cuts of dead cows is offensive enough to bring comment, but someone should whisper in her ear that there are more people who are upset by butchery than who are impressed by it," said a statement from PETA.
