Suicide blasts kill 17, injure 150 in Lahore




LAHORE: At least 17 people were killed and 150 others injured after two suicide bombs ripped through the Youm-e-Ali procession in Lahore on Wednesday.

Ten women are among the injured.

The first suicide blast took place near Karbala Gamay Shah, while second blast struck the mourners near Bhati Chowk, killing at least 17 people.

Confirming the suicide blasts, Lahore DCO Sajjad Bhutta said a police constable also embraced martyrdom in the attack.

According to reports, the head of a teenage suicide bomber was found from the site of the blast.

Ten dead bodies were shifted to Mayo Hospital, while two bodies were taken to Ganga Ram Hospital.

Later, enraged protesters set the Lower Mall Police Station on fire after the blasts. Police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the angry protestors
