Chelsea continued their dismal run, they lost 1-0 at Birmingham City, and Manchester United pulled level on points at the top of the table by a comfortable 2-0 win over nine-man Wigan Athletic. Fourth place Manchester City closed to within three points of
league leaders Chelsea with an impressive 4-1 win at Fulham.
At the bottom end of the table, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers fell to five points adrift of safety with defeats at Liverpool and Blackpool respectively.
