Bollywood flicks of 2010 have mostly been based on quite unconventional themes and story lines where the protagonists, specially the male actors have portrayed very different if not totally de-glam roles.
The beginning of the year saw KJO's My Name Is Khan, where the male protagonist portrayed by Shahrukh Khan was affected with a mental disease which was a form of autism.
Thus the movie had Shahrukh behaving in a different way as his mannerisms and body language had to be like that of any person affected with the disease. However, the protagonist does get to marry the girl he loves in the flick.
Then there were a series of very unconventional films like Raavan, where Abhishek Bachchan appeared in Mani Ratnam's Raavan as the awkward protagonist who was dressed in the simplest of attires like the people from backward people in certain areas do.
There was Khatta Meetha with Akshay Kumar as the male protagonist who had portrayed the
character of a very humble and down to earth road contractor who had no luck with name, fame or money in the flick. Despite that he does get the girl of his dreams to wed him in the end.
The other tangent role of Akshay was in the movie Houseful and in this flick too the actor was seen in a de-glam role with bad luck strewn all over his life; however he gets to wed the girl he loves in the end.
Action Replayy also had Akshay Kumar as the simpleton with geeky looks and thus was a loser in the beginning but comes to learn things as the movie rolls on to become the hero of his wife's eyes.
The recent Sanjay Leela Bhansali Guzaarish has Hrithik Roshan playing a paraplegic where he is completely bedridden due to paralysis, but his character in the flick does get the love of the female protagonist and they marry in the end even though it was for just a day before he succumbs to euthanasia.
