HP's 2310e is less than an inch thick, packs 1080p display, asks for $289 tithe

After the 2310m comes the, erm, 2310e. HP has put its 1080p-resolving 23-inch monitor on a strict training regimen and returned with this new unit that checks in at under an inch in thickness. The 2310e brings as much gloss as a humanoid can handle, even going so far as to replace the usual buttons with touch-sensitive light-up controls. Speaking of light, the jumbo HP logo on the back blossoms in a lustrous white when you turn it on. If that doesn't curb your enthusiasm for this cake slicer, you'll want to know it has DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, 250 nits of brightness, a 5ms response time, and an

Yes, it's downright insane that we're allowing this so-called research to continue our descent toward the robot uprising -- where's the FBI, the CIA, hell, why is DARPA sleeping on this thing? The lethal precision of these quadrotor helis doesn't end there, however, as they

Amir’s no-ball at Lord’s felt deliberate: umpires

Umpires felt that Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir had delivered a deliberate no-ball during the fourth test against England, but had put it down to tactics rather than spot-fixing at the time, local media reported.
New Zealanders Tony Hill and Billy Bowden had been concerned by an Amir delivery to England’s Jonathon Trott during which the teenage bowler overstepped the mark but pitched the ball short.
“We never suspected a thing,” Hill told the Dominion Post. “There had been the big overstep in particular and in our minds that was more a deliberate overstep to have a go at Trott, who had been batting so well.
“Billy and I chatted about that and thought it seemed deliberate, especially as it was dropped in short. But it all seemed to be one of those things that fast bowlers have been known to do to get an advantage.”
Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were suspended by the International Cricket Council following a British newspaper report that Amir and Asif had bowled three

If you are WEAK HEARTED please skip...

This is really horrible. Faces of these women were mutilated by acid, and this is the work of bastards who call themselves men. This is such a strange way of solving problems (or revenge) in Pakistan . After the jump, you can look at these poor women and learn why the acid was thrown into their faces.

Irum Saeed, 30, poses for a photograph at her office at the Urdu University of Islamabad, Pakistan, Thursday, July 24, 2008. Irum was burned on her face, back and shoulders twelve years ago when a boy whom she rejected for marriage threw acid on her in the middle of the street. She has undergone plastic surgery 25 times to try

NASA's revolutionary launcher dreams could improve mass transit systems, boost astronaut applications

If there's one thing we hate waiting for, it's getting to space. Those 18 hour jaunts from Newark to Singapore just seem so brisk compared to getting from ground zero to the stratosphere, you know? All jesting aside, a team of engineers at NASA are pursuing a revolutionary new launcher that would rely solely on existing technologies. The catch? Said technologies need to be pushed forward a good bit, but if it all pans out, the result could lead to more efficient commuter rail systems, better batteries for motorcars and roller coasters that force a waiver upon you prior to riding. The
