Paris Hilton wants Kangna be her brand ambassador

The Hilton heiress is wooing the actress to be Asian brand ambassador for her clothing line

Paris Hilton Fashions (PHF) has approached Kangna to be its Asian brand ambassador -- a first for an Indian actress.

Says an insider, "The brand carries Paris' signature style -- fun, flashy, bright. Kangna was short listed because of her edgy approach to fashion. She is considered to be a stylish girl who experiments, takes risks and sets trends."

Whopping fee
The brand researched her films, her approach to clothes, her image etc. before zeroing in on her. It's a good time for the actress. After the success of her latest flick Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, she has been offered a whopping amount to endorse PHF.

Says a source close to the actress, "Nothing is final as yet and if Kangna signs it, it will be her first international fashion brand."

Earlier she has endorsed other clothing brands, including a leading international denim wear but that was limited to India only. At some point Kangna also aspires to start her own clothing line which will be a reflection of her persona. 

ANJAANA ANJAANI poster inspired?

The theatrical promo of Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer ANJAANA ANJAANI got a stupendous response online. However, the first look poster of the film, which was released recently, seems to have semblance to a Hollywood film, AN EDUCATION starring Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard. Don't believe us? AN EDUCATION premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, and gained a lot of critical acclaim. It won the Audience Choice award and the Cinematography award at the Festival. Also, Mulligan won a Hollywood Film Festival award for Best Hollywood Breakthrough Performance for a Female.

Hope its Indian counterpart, ANJAANA ANJAANI gets equal amount of accolades, if not more. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwal and directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is set to release in September.

PPP resorts to riots over shoe hurling news

LONDON: The infuriated activists of PPP have resorted to riots, arson and rampage in Karachi and other parts of country in reaction against airing of news, which showed an old man hurling a shoe at President Asif Ali Zardari during his party address in Birmingham, Geo News reported Sunday morning. All the newspaper sellers have been robed of Jang and Thenews newspapers in Karachi on early Sunday morning; meanwhile most television channels have been blocked in other parts of country. Cable operators’ offices are being attacked with baton and armed activists of PPP while many cable operators have been tortured in Karachi, witnesses and sources told Geo News. It may be mentioned that according to a UK news agency, while the President Asif Zardari was amid his party address at 10pm on August 7, all of a sudden a man threw two shoes towards President Asif Ali Zardari when the latter was delivering a speech at Pakistan People’s Party’s convention here on Saturday, an eyewitness said. However, the shoes failed to reach the stage, sources said. President Zardari was addressing a gathering of PPP workers at a convention here when a man – apparently a PPP worker – stood up and threw something in direction of the President as he (the man) criticized the latter for the UK trip, the sources said. An eyewitness who was present at the convention said ‘the man threw two shoes one after another towards the President when he was giving speech.’ Security personnel present there sprung to action and took the man into custody and took him outside, the eyewitness added. This led the President to stop his address and immediately leave the place in a security cordon in his car waiting for him outside. However, Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar rubbished the above report, saying there is no substance in it as he was himself present at the convention and no such incident took place during the President’s speech. “I was sitting in the front row and I can confidently say that nobody threw anything,” Farhatullah Babar said while talking to Geo News. On the other hand, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira confirming the incident said that ‘highlighting a wrong act of a person would not be a right thing to do’ and added that the incident will be investigated. President Zardari is presently in UK on a trip which was widely criticized due to his leaving the country at a time when people in Pakistan are facing unprecedented floods that has killed over 1000 people and displaced millions.

Shahid, Priyanka’s love story on the track again

Shahid, Priyanka and Mubina looked very happy in each other’s company. They came and left together. They were in the hotel for nearly two hours, adds the source.

After four years of unsuccessful relationship with Kareena Kapoor, Shahid was linked withVidya Balan, Priyanka Chopra and even tennis player Sania Mirza.

Geo’s transmission halted on shoe hurling news at Zardari

KARACHI: The transmission of Geo News has been blocked overnight in various parts of country after it aired news regarding hurling of shoe at President Zardari during his party address in Birmingham, Geo News reported cable operators sources as saying. Meanwhile, many offices of cable operators in Karachi have been set ablaze by angry activists of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Some of PPP’s leaders and government officials have issued threats and warnings to cable operators across country against continuation of Geo News transmission, pressurizing them to shut Geo News transmission but most cable operators refused to do so, sources said. However, a private company namely World Call and another one by the name KMPC blocked Geo News signals as late as 2am in morning. Following the blockage, a large number of people registered a massive protest against closure of Geo News transmission across country and rampage, arson and riots triggered by workers of PPP, sources said. Meanwhile, many a Geo News’ workers have decided to register a protest against government in reaction against blockage of Geo News transmission over keeping people updated with facts and truths. People and Geo News employees have resolved staging a massive string of demonstrations against stoppage of Geo News transmission and burning of Jang and Thenews newspapers by PPP workers, sources said. The Demos will be staged outside President House, Prime Minister House, in front of Oman Embassy in Islamabad, outside CM, Governor Houses, Press Clubs and offices of cable operators all over country. Most copies of Jang and Thenews newspapers have been burnt to ashes after robbing them of hawkers at gunpoint in Karachi. A meeting of journalists, and Geo News employees has been convened in this connection, which will decide further course of action over this issue, journalists told Geo News.
