Akshay Kumar tests culinary skills on MasterChef India B-Town superstar Akshay Kumar will showcase his culinary skills for the first time on television tonight on MasterChef India. The desi version of the international MasterChef series will begin with the auditions.

In the first episode, around a thousand contestants will mince, chop and shred their way through the auditions.

Akki and co-judges Chefs Kunal Kapoor and Ajay Chopra will categorise them as the "haves" and the "have nots".

Only the top 100 contestants will be eligible for the next round. Of these, only forty will be eligible to go to the Boot Camp round.

Finally, the top 12 of them will compete on the show. They will have to go beyond the four walls of the kitchen to prove their worth on how well they perform under pressure.

In the course of the show, participants will have to do everything from cooking the feast for a big fat Indian wedding to catering to a langar before they can prove they are

Sonam Kapoor bitten by typhoid bug again in Canada

Sonam Kapoor, the Masakalli gal from Delhi 6, is reportedly not feeling well these days.

It was just a few days back when it had been reported that the B-town lass had fallen sick in Canada, while shooting for the Anees Bazmi flick 'ThankYou', starring her in the lead with macho action hunk Akshay Kumar, so, she had to be sent back to Mumbai, for treatment.

As she had been diagnosed with typhoid, she had to take complete bed rest. Due to this, her shooting schedule had to be canceled, but she was to return soon after recovering.

Bollywood stars eye serials after reality overdose

After making their presence felt on reality shows, Bollywood stars are now increasingly appearing in cameos on television serials to promote their upcoming films.

Stars like Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Salman Khan, Mallika Sherawat and Neetu Kapoor are increasingly making a beeline for serials.

This arrangement benefits both big and small screen stars, experts say.

"Television is the best way to connect with the audience, " Aatish Kapadia, writer-director of "Khichdi-The Movie", told on phone from Mumbai. Episodes featuring stars tend to have higher viewership, and the practice adds novelty to the show, he added.

The cast of Kapadia's movie, including Supriya Pathak, Anang Desai, Rajeev Mehta, J.D. Mathejia and Nimisha Vakharia, appeared on a Ganesh Chaturthi special episode of Sab TV's popular show "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma".
