Gold closed at 1,269.70-1,270.70 US dollars an ounce in Hong Kong on Wednesday, up from Tuesday’s close of 1,253.00-1,254.00.
It opened at 1,268.00-1,269.00.
The precious metal hit a record high 1,274.95 dollars in European trade on Tuesday as dealers sought a safe haven at a time of risk aversion.
