Everyone seems to be "giving the finger" these days, says Linton Weeks at NPR. "You can buy middle-finger wallpaper for your smart phone. There are even cute little finger-flashing emoticons for your instant messages." But the more ubiquitous this "crude gesture" becomes, the more it seems to lose "its sting." Sure, it's still an "effective" way of saying "'go to hell,' 'up yours' or '(insert nasty-sounding verb here) you.'" But the once shocking middle finger is undeniably "becoming commonplace." President seeks report on match fixing scandal
President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed disappointment over the media reports of match fixing scandal and allegations against some Pakistani cricketers in London.
Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar said that the President who is also Patron of the Cricket Board, taking note of the reports, has directed that he should be kept updated about the developments as to what happened and what is the status of any inquiry that may have been ordered or held in London.

Admirers of Salman Khan were left disappointed Sunday when the Bollywood superstar gave the BSA Hercules India Cyclothon in the capital a miss for security reasons.
A cycling fanatic Salman, who is often seen peddaling with his bodyguards on the busy roads of Mumbai, was scheduled to participate in the event in the capital along with his brothers Arbaaz, Sohail, sister Alvira and sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan.

Union problems settled for NYC’s fashion week
The producers of New York City’s glamorous Fashion Week event have settled a potential labor dispute by agreeing to use unionized workers.
