Director walks out of Iron Man 3

The new film in the Robert Downey Jr starrer 'Iron Man' franchise has suffered a blow after director Jon Favreau decided to part ways with Marvel studio.

The relationship between Favreau and the studio was not easy from the time of the second film as he had a difficult time negotiating a USD 10 million pay cheque for his directorial efforts.

Favreau finally decided to move to Disney to develop and direct a movie 'Magic Kingdom' based on their theme park, the Hollywood Reporter said.

"It's true, I'm directing Magic Kingdom, not Iron Man 3. I've had a great run with Marvel and wish them the best," the director confirmed the split in a tweet.

Favreau had alluded to the strains in his relationship with Marvel during a recent interview where he said: "In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers. That whole world...I have no idea what it is. I don't think they do either, from conversations I've had with those guys," he had said.

Favreau is said to the one, who convinced the studio to bring Downey Jr for the title role and introduce Scarlett Johansson in the role of Black Widow.
