Price hike hampers Eid shopping

Eid shopping is dull due to a tragic incident of lynching, floods and price hike in urban and rural areas of Sialkot district.
Shopping centres, commercial markets and
bazaars remain open till late night because customers start coming in after Iftar but the number of buyers is very low.
Chinese products like readymade garments and shoes denominate local markets but the sale is at the lowest ebb as compared to previous years.
It was observed that a small number of buyers was purchasing Chinese garments for children due to price hike.
Some women said that prices were high as compared to past years and they were facing hardships in purchasing garments within their budget limits.
Meanwhile, mobile phones and the internet have played a pivotal role in eliminating Eid cards. Only people of rural backgrounds and children buy them.
Sialkot is also swarming with beggars and a large number of men, women, old people and children are seen begging in markets and bazaars.
