Hollywood star Will Smith has been approached for a leading role in the modern version of classic British tale Robin Hood to be directed by the Wachowskis.
The Men in Black star is the first to be asked by Andy and Lana Wachowski to appear in the film, simply known as 'Hood', Hollywood Reporter reported.
The 42-year-old actor in the past has witnessed projects where he has been dropped from the leading role, although he is currently filming Men in Black III.
The actor has also worked on his son Jaden Smith's feature film Karate Kid, a reimagining of the 80s movie of the same name.
His last starring role was in 2008 drama Seven Pounds' and comedy super-hero movie Hancock.
Meanwhile, the Wachowskis best known for their work on 1999 movie The Matrix and its subsequent follow-ups have been recently working on Iraqi war drama CN-9.
