Reddit, one of the world’s largest social news website, has released its Google Analytics stats for January 2011 according to which it has surpassed 1 billion monthly pageviews milestone ( and nearly 14 million unique visitors).
The released stats show a 300% increment compared to last year stats and 20% increment compared to last month. Back in January 2010 Reddit had 250 million pageviews and 429 million pageviews between June 14 and July 14.
According to the official Reddit blog:
“There are only about 100 sites on the entire Internet that get a billion pageviews in a single month, and now reddit can put on its smoking jacket and join that exclusive club. The New York Times isn’t on the membership list, nor is Expedia, Weather.com, about.com, or Fox News. In your face, meteorologists! This is an accomplishment that all redditors should take pride in, because people wouldn’t keep arriving in droves — and coming back — if not for the community that you’ve created here.”
The fact that Reddit generated 1 billion pageviews from just 13.75 million absolute unique visitors (which turns out to be 14.7 pages per visit) clearly shows off the quality of the social networking site.
Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman started Reddit back in 2005 which was later on purchased by publisher Conde Nast in 2006.
