MUMBAI: After scoring over Shah Rukh Khan in Danny Boyle’s much-awaited venture ‘Bombay Velvet’, Aamir has once again left the King Khan fuming! The perfectionist superstar has now replaced SRK in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s upcoming flick ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’. According to the latest buzz, Vidhu Vinod Chopra was quite confused over the past few days as he couldn’t conclude upon the lead actors for his much-anticipated project. But now, the filmmaker, after conducting a survey for the same, has reportedly decided to rope in Aamir Khan in the lead role. Reports reveal that Chopra’s assistant directors and production executives went around coffee shops starting from Bandra to Juhu to conduct a survey for the role of a father to a nine-year-old son. However, grapevine has it that not just Aamir but actor Sharman Joshi too scored over Shah Rukh in the poll. Well, Chopra’s all game to cast either of the two actors in the flick, which is set to be directed by none other than Raj Kumar Hirani, according to reports |

Australia set Pakistan 180-run target in 2nd Test
LEEDS: Steven Smith's maiden Test fifty left the second Test against Pakistan finely balanced at Headingley here on Friday. Australia were bowled out for 349 in their second innings, having made just 88 in their first, to leave Pakistan needing 180 for a victory that would square the two-match series at 1-1. Leg-spinner Smith, in only his second match at this level, was last man out for 77, bowled slogging at Umar Gul, after coming in when Australia's advantage was only 47. He shared stands of 37 with both Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus for the eighth and ninth wickets respectively. Pakistan have lost their last 13 Tests against Australia - a record run for one country against another - and in Sydney in January were bowled out for 139 chasing a fourth innings victory target of 176. Smith went to fifty in style, sweeping leg-spinner Danish Kaneria for four. In the morning, Pakistan teenage left-arm quick Mohammad Aamer took three wickets for just 12 runs in 16 balls, on his way to final figures of four for 86 in 27 overs, to leave Australia 215 for five at lunch. Michael Clarke, the last of Australia's recognised batsmen, was 76 not out, having started the day unbeaten on 32 and wicketkeeper Tim Paine, who top scored with 17 in the first innings, was 17 not out. However Clarke added just one to his interval score when, to Mohammad Asif's first ball after lunch he was caught behind off a superb full length delivery that just seamed away enough to take the outside edge and end the Australia vice-captain's four hours' of resistance. Australia were plunged into further trouble by a fortunate Kaneria wicket. Paine in what was only his second Test, made a composed 33 in two hours with five boundaries. But his innings ended when he spooned a Kaneria long hop to Azhar Ali at cover. Smith and Mitchell Johnson added valuable runs and with Australia 264 for seven after 80 overs, Pakistan took the new ball as soon as it was available. But in the fifth over of the new ball, Johnson was lbw to Asif for 12. Kaneria succeeded where the quicks failed, Hilfenhaus edging him to Umar Akmal at slip after making 17 featuring four boundaries. Aamer took three for 20 as Australia were routed for 88 on Wednesday - their lowest Test total since being dismissed for 76 by the West Indies at Perth in 1984. Australia resumed on their overnight score of 136 for two, 34 behind Pakistan's first innings 258. But Ponting had added only five more when he drove loosely outside off stump against Aamer and was caught by wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal for 66, having put on 89 for the third wicket with Clarke. |
Apple: White iPhone 4 Delayed Until Later This Year Due To Manufacturing Challenges
Looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer for the White iPhone 4. Apple just released a statement saying that the white model of the new iPhone won’t be available until later in 2010.
In late June, Apple released a statement saying that the white iPhone 4 will not be available until the second half of July due to manufacturing challenges. As with this most recent release, it is unclear from the statement what those challenges are. But we received an update last week during Steve Jobs’ ‘Antennagate’ press conference that the White iPhone would ship at the end of July.
It appears things have changed within a week.
Apple said that the shortage of the white iPhones will not affect supply of the more popular black models. But for those of you who were pining for a white device, you will have to wait until later this year. The iPhone 4 was available for pre-order in Black starting June 15. At that point, it was assumed you’d be able to purchase the white model of the phone in stores on June 24. But clearly, these “Manufacturing challenges” have prevented Apple from releasing large quantities of the phone to the public.
Here’s the full statement from Apple:
Started by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne, Apple has expanded from computers to consumer electronics over the last 30 years, officially changing their name from Apple… Learn More

White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.Of course you can always try to build your own white iPhone 4 if you don’t want to wait.

India Develops World’s Cheapest Tablet
In another attempt to bring a usable computer to the masses at an extremely affordable price point, India has developed a touchscreen computing device which will cost only $35. According to a press release by India’s Press Information Bureau, the price is expected to drop even further, first to $20 and ultimately to a mere $10.
The reports about the device’s hardware vary greatly; all we can say for sure is that it’s portable and has a touchscreen, which pretty much makes it a tablet (confirmed by the image on the right).
According to Indian Express, it has a 5/7/9 inch touchscreen (we don’t know whether that means there will be several versions of the device or they’re simply unsure what the actual size is, but it looks like a 7-incher to us), and on the software side, it sports a web browser, PDF reader, office software, media player as well as multimedia input/output capabilities, video conferencing (it must have a camera, then) and remote device management capability – all of it open-source and Linux-based.
Whatever hardware is running this thing, it’s ready for production, according to India’s human resource development minister Kapil Sibal. “We have reached a (developmental) stage that today; the motherboard, its chip, the processing, connectivity, all of them cumulatively cost around $35, including memory, display, everything,” he said at a news conference in New Delhi.
The device, Sibal said, should be available to consumers sometime in 2011.

Atif Aslam American Agenda
As Previously We have Reported About Atif Aslam ” Dreamer Awakes Project “and Shared Some ” Studio Pictures ” Of it . Here is Some More info about the project .
Atif Aslam believes his collaboration will create inroads for other Pakistani musicians. PHOTO: EPA
KARACHI: Pop sensation Atif Aslam has teamed up with ex-Guns N’ Roses members for an album. Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Aslam said that Pakistan is very talented especially in the field of music and his joint venture will provide yet another international platform to the local music industry.
The first track of the album has already been recorded in Los Angeles, he said. The band members left the iconic band to form Velvet Revolver with Slash.
“Collaborating with the band is a success for the whole music industry in Pakistan,” he said. During the press conference the singer said, “As per the contract with the American band, I will be able to represent Pakistani culture in this album. It will clear many misunderstandings about Pakistan.”
The album is called The Dreamer Awakes.
Aslam said, “The first track of the album is in Punjabi and its music has been composed by the American partners.”
“Americans want to know about Pakistani art and culture,” he said. “This effort is initiated to bring the two nations closer.”
The joint venture comes after Aslam’s massive success in India. The musician has sung playback for several Bollywood films, including Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Race.
Though Pakistani singers have frequently collaborated with Bollywood, the music industry has very few examples of Pakistani artists working with western musicians.
Aslam believes this will make new inroads for his peers.
“My project will also benefit other singers. I will try to introduce them on an international level through this album,” he said.
Aslam is also making his debut as an actor this year. The musician is playing the lead role in Shoaib Mansoor’s film, Bol, which also stars Umaima Abbasi and Mahira Khan.
Aslam said, “I wanted to begin my acting career from Pakistan which is why I worked in Shoaib Mansoor’s film. Depending on the response for this film, I will decide about working in Bollywood movies. If it fails, I will continue with music.”
Bol is scheduled to release this fall. via ( Aadeez )
More arrests of gay men reported in Iran
Recently, the (IRQR), received several new reports of arrests of queer Iranians in the city of Shiraz, Iran.
On Sunday, July 11, 2010, a private party in a suburb called Podonak was raided. The police lead the raid, accompanied by the volunteer moral militia (Basij) and revolutionary guard (Sepah). Reports vary, but we understand that between 17 and 19 people have been arrested and taken to the local intelligent service’s detention centre on Modares Boulevard
Their police files are labeled “Gang of Faggots in Shiraz” and their homes have been raided and personal belongings confiscated by the police. They are to be tried today, in both the Revolutionary and the General Courts, Shiraz.
Since the raid, we have been able to confirm the names of nine people who have been arrested and labeled as a “Gang of Faggots in Shiraz” and we do not have information about the rest of them.
We understand that the police are going to entrap more queers in Shiraz, Esfahan and Mashhad, and fear that more arrests might take place in the coming days. We advise Iranian queers to be extremely careful with their safety, and to be aware that phones in Iran can and are being tapped. Most queers in Shiraz have deleted their Yahoo IDs, profiles, facebook accounts and other cyber communication. We have heard rumors that a party has been raided in Esfahan, but have not yet confirmed this.
The Iranian authorities have a long record of arresting and torturing LGBTQ Iranians.
For example, in September 2003, in Shiraz, a group of men were arrested at a private party in one of the men’s houses. They were held in detention for several days, where, according to one of the men, police tortured them to obtain a confession. They were tried for “participation in a corrupt gathering” and fined.
In June 2004, also in Shiraz, police arranged meetings with men through internet chat rooms. Once arrested, the men were repeatedly beaten and tortured, and sentenced to 175 lashes, 100 administered immediately. Since their arrest, police have subjected the men to regular surveillance and periodic arrests.
On May 10, 2007, eighty-seven men were arrested and beaten by the police at a birthday party in Esfahan. The police turned off the lights, shot blanks from their guns, forced everyone to lie on the ground, then walked over to them and began beating them. The police then covered the guests’ heads with bags or blouses, forced them out into the street and pushed them with batons into a military transport. The people who witnessed the event on the street reported that the clothes of the arrested men were torn and that their faces were bleeding.
On July 8, 2010, Mohammad Mostafai, an Iranian lawyer announced that three of his four clients were cleared of sodomy charges, but one, an eighteen year old youth named Ebrahim Hamidi, was sentenced to be executed.
Also on June 18, 2010 we received reports from Iran regarding three more possible death sentences for homosexuality, one man receiving 74 lashes for his homosexual act and the murder of a 23 year old bisexual man by the Iranian security forces.
These many incidents are just some of the many examples that reveal the extent to which the walls of private homes in Iran are transparent and the halls of justice opaque. It also reveals that the authorities and Islamic government's respect for privacy and personal dignity is nonexistent in Iran.
We at IRQR call on the Iranian government to end these arrests of LGBQ Iranians and to respect the basic human rights of its citizens.

The 7 Most Insane Things Ever Done to Get Out of Something
So the story came out this week that a school teacher in Pennsylvania lied about having brain cancer so she could get some time off work. We're not saying we condone that behavior, but we certainly understand it. Damn it, if you're going to ditch something, you need to think big. Like these people. #7. Take This Job and Shove It... Into Your Ribcage. Repeatedly. Ah, work. The crushing monotony. The obnoxious customers. Your incompetent coworkers. But the off-brand Ramen and Trial Memberships to Porn sites aren't going to pay for themselves. You have to do it. Even if everything inside is screaming for you to run, you have to go... right? So What Do You Do? Well, you could call in sick, but what if somebody drops by and sees you out in the yard playing on your trampoline? No, it's got to be convincing. You'd better just stab yourself. A guy from Denver named Aaron Siebers called into work and claimed he was just attacked and repeatedly stabbed by three mysterious assailants who were either skinheads or Hispanics. That seems a little odd, but hey: Maybe they were tan skinheads, or bald Hispanics, or perhaps even the Klan has had to bend to Affirmative Action and diversify. But let's not lose track of the important thing here: He didn't just "claim it"--he actually stabbed himself. And not with glancing blows, either. His wounds were serious enough to require stitches. And police, for some reason not catching onto the old "call into work stabbed by ethnic contradictions" excuse, believed him and began a manhunt for the suspects. They brought in K-9 units and five other agencies on the case. But then, after reviewing the security footage from the alleged crime scene (Siebers said the attack occurred in the parking lot of a local Target, because apparently Wal-Mart is just a little too low rent for His Freaking Majesty here), they found no evidence of the crime. After confronting him with this discovery in the hospital, the truth soon came out. Aaron Siebers inflicted deep, potentially lethal stab wounds on himself, committed fraud and instigated a vast, cross-agency manhunt because he didn't want to go to his job... at the local Blockbuster. #6. Here's a Heart Attack; Keep the Change. You're eating out at your favorite restaurant, hedonistically devouring everything that passes in front of your table. But come on, you deserve it: It's been a hard week, and you have so very few indulgences. You have even fewer dollars in your wallet. Coming down off the glutton high, stark reality begins to set in. There's no way you can pay this bill. So What Do You Do? You can poke remorsefully through your empty wallet, trying to remember which credit card isn't over the limit. Or you can cop to it, apologize and offer to work off the debt in the kitchen. But shit, you know what's way easier than all of that? Faking a heart attack. A Wisconsin man did that, not once, but twice, in the same day. He first took a cab to a shopping mall, but when he arrived, somehow got out of paying the fare by clutching his chest and playing the heart attack card. The cab driver, apparently not wanting to get involved with a bunch of "taking a dying man to a hospital" nonsense, just drove away. The man, apparently amazed that this worked, decided he had stumbled upon a lifelong "get everything for free" coupon. He went to a restaurant in the mall and had a nice steak dinner. When they brought the bill--oh, no! Heart attack! Concerned for his safety, the staff promptly called an ambulance and had him taken to the hospital. There the doctors soon realized he was faking it and called the police, who charged him with fraud. If convicted, he could serve up to nine months in jail, and be forced to pay a $10,000 dollar fine. The bill he was trying to get out of paying? It was $23. #5. Absolutely Nothing is Worse Than Drunk Driving, Right? Sirens blare in the distance. The telltale red and blue lights flash in your rear view mirror. You fumble for the gum, unfortunately knocking over the tallboy of Steel Reserve you belted into the passenger seat (in order to use the carpool lane). The officer motions for you to roll down your window. This is it. So What Do You Do? Face up to the law, learn from your mistakes and promise to never drive drunk again? That'll take like, literally hours of work. Fuck that! Just do like this lady. In hopes of avoiding the dreaded ticket, she started out by reversing into a cop car at a gas station. Panicking, the woman fled the scene--which proved easier than expected since she'd just disabled the nearest police car. Quick, what's the next logical step? A) Stop and take a moment to recall if the cop had enough time to spot your license plates; B) Report your car stolen; C) Flee the state; D) Burn everything. "Welp. This should take care of everything. Wait. What was I taking care of again?" If you answered D, congratulations! You're mentally imbalanced! But you're also right: She drove her car into a ditch, removed the license plates and lit the whole thing on fire. At this point it becomes a little difficult to figure out exactly what her plan was, mainly because her next step was to remain on the scene, standing next to the burning car she just rammed a cop with, still with a BAC of .155. "DAMN IT, IT WAS THE PERFECT CRIME." |
Caught on camera: The moment a two-ton elephant charged and nearly killed his terrified keeper
This is the terrifying moment an elephant charged its keeper.
Security video shows the trainer, Don Redfox, desperately trying to protect himself as Louie the elephant - who weighs two tons - pinned him in a corner, his tusks narrowly missing the man's head and chest.
The elephant then backs away as Mr Redfox stumbles out.
He has been hospitalised with life-threatening injuries since the attack three weeks ago at an Ohio zoo.
Scroll down to see the video
Deadly: A CCTV image shows Louie the elephant charging his trainer, Don Redfox, who is already injured on the ground. Mr Redfox barely escaped with his life
Doctors have upgraded his condition and expect him to recover from two punctured lungs and several fractured ribs.
Anne Baker, the zoo's director, said it's not clear why Louie turned on the keeper.
The elephant and Mr Redfox had been together nearly every day since the animal's birth seven years ago.
It looks as if Louie was startled and then started play-fighting, as elephants do in the wild, Ms Baker said.
Mr Redfox makes it a habit to talk to the animals before he approaches so he doesn't surprise them, Ms Baker said.
She thinks he didn't do it this time because he didn't know Louie was around the corner when he walked into the enclosure carrying a bag of carrots.
'Neither expected the other to be there,' Ms Baker said.
Escape: A wounded Mr Redfox stumbles towards safety as Louie suddenly backs off
They both backed away. Louie flared his ears and moved towards the keeper, pushing Mr Redfox before the keeper stepped safely behind a gate and closed it.
But then Mr Redfox returned and tried to move the elephant away with a pole with a hook on the end. That's when the elephant charged, pinning him in the corner and knocking him to his knees.
Louie backed up, dropped to his knees, and then charged again at Mr Redfox, who curled up and tried to shield himself.
After that, the elephant backed away again and Mr Redfox stumbled to safety.
Ms Baker said the elephant could have killed Redfox at any time.
Since he did not, she and another elephant expert who reviewed the video think that Louie was play-fighting.
'The problem is Louie weighs over 4,000 pounds,' she said - about two tons.
Zoo officials have not been able to talk with Mr Redfox, who faces a long recovery, according to his doctors.
Mr Redfox and his family initially fought the video's release - but as the incident made its way into the media, they changed their minds, wanting to show that the animal wasn't mistreated.
The family said it continues to believe that 'releasing the security tape does nothing more than provide an opportunity to sensationalise a tragic accident'.
