 LAHORE: Parents of Justice Javed Iqbal of Supreme Court (SC) have been murdered as they seemed to have resisted a robbery attempt here, Geo News reported Tuesday.

According to police sources, some armed people tried a dacoity at the residence of Justice Javed Iqbal in Cavalry Ground, when his parents resisted their attempt and were killed by the robbers.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) said Justice Javed’s father, Former DIG Abdul Hameed, was killed while he resisted robbers’ attempt to burgle the house.

Earlier, President Zardari held consultations with senior leaders of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in connection with the appointment of Punjab governor at Bilawal House in Karachi. Later on the same date, the PM Gilani sent to President Zardari the summary with recommendation for appointing Latif Khosa as new Punjab governor. 6,000 years old wine press unearthed

 WASHINGTON: Archeologists have unearthed the oldest wine-making facility ever found, using biochemical techniques to identify a dry red vintage made about 6,000 years ago in what is now southern Armenia.

The excavation paints a picture of a complex society where mourners tasted a special vintage made at a caveside cemetery, the researchers reported on Tuesday in the Journal of Archaeological Science.

"This is the world's oldest known installation to make wine," Gregory Areshian of the University of California Los Angeles, who helped lead the study, said in a telephone interview.

Shahid Kapoor disappoints audience at Awards night

Shahid Kapoor was the biggest disappointment at a recently held awards function in Mumbai. No, not because he failed to secure any awards for his performances, but because he failed to perform at all!

But in her thank-you speech on Thursday night after winning the Screen award for Best Actor Popular Choice (whatever that means!) for her performances in Raajneeti and Tees Maar Khan, Katrina completely forgot to make any mention of Farah Khan.

Says a source close to Katrina, “Forget Farah. Katrina didn’t make any mention of Tees Maar Khan (TMK) at all! Though the award was for her two performances in Raajneeti and TMK she only went on and on about Prakash Jha and Raajneeti. Farah who was sitting in the audience and had won an award for Munni badnaam just looked on without any expression.” 

According to a close friend of Katrina it was a genuine oversight. “In all the hustlebustle of the announcement Katrina only heard Raajneeti. She genuinely didn’t know she had received the award for TMK also. When she got off the stage and realized her faux pas Katrina didn’t know where to look.She immediately sms-ed Farah to apologize.”
