Patiala House makes history at The Oval MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Patiala House is the first Hindi film to be shot at The Lords, The Oval and The Trent Bridge cricket grounds in England.

Akshay plays a cricketer in the film and so it was important that the shoots take place on cricket grounds. Surprisingly, the unit faced no trouble in getting the required permissions from the authorities.

They also shot some scenes at night without any hassle. According to Bhushan Kumar, whose T-series is co-producing the film, the unit had applied for the permissions three to four months back and have now completed their two-week shoot at the Oval.

Patiala House is about Rishi Kapoor, the patriarch of a family settled in England. His son Gattu (Akshay) wants to be a part of the England cricket team, but he is totally against it. The film also stars Nasser Hussain, Kieron Pollard, Herschelle Gibbs, Dirk Nannes, Shaun Tait, Simon Katich, David Gower, Kamran Akmal and Graham Gooch.

Meanwhile, Akshay became such a good bowler that he impressed Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds, who plays a cameo in the movie. In one scene, Andrew is at the crease and Akshay has to bowl to him.

Andrew initially thought he would have to play act and give Akshay a bit of a leeway as he did not expect Akshay to be able to bowl. But Akshay did and Andrew was surprised at Akshay's capability.
