Nokia C6 is also available for free on O2 and Vodafone contracts on 25-pound tariff.
The QWERTY sporting C6 has similar specs and size as N97 mini, but lacks the huge internal storage and digital compass.
The rather cold shower however is the price. At the device announcement back in April Nokia stated an expected price of 220 euro before taxes. The current price of about 340 euro is a rather steep difference.

Another solution of iPhone 4 ?Death Grip? ,A Band-Aid

After three weeks of hearing about the iPhone 4 antenna reception issue, on Friday, Apple finally explained this problem and also suggested a solution ? they would give free iPhone 4 bumpers to every iPhone 4 user. Giving free cases to the iPhone 4 users was the only practical solution available for Apple but now Antenn-aid have given another solution for iPhone 4 ?death grip? problem. They have created a custom-sized sticker for iPhone 4 especially designed to fill the antenna gap of iPhone 4.

This band-aid for iPhone 4 solves the ?death grip? just like the tap or bumpers would do. It is available in different colors just like the iPhone 4 bumpers and clearly is a cheap solution priced at $4.99.

Some would ask why Apple didn?t give something like this for solving the issue. Although this band-aid isn?t bad, but the iPhone 4 bumpers are way cooler. Still, if you don?t want the free bumper, then you should get one of these band-aids.

Samsung?s new unbreakable AMOLED screen vs hammer.

It doesn?t take much to break a phone screen. I know plenty of people ? and I?m sure you do, too ? with the tell-tale mark of a dropped phone dividing their screens into so many pieces of shame. Samsung feel your pain, fear, and shame, and want to do something to help you out.

Samsung have created an ?unbreakable? AMOLED (the source suggests that it isn?t of the ?super? variety, unfortunately) invinci-screen that should be in mass production by 2012.

I?m sure you hear ?unbreakable? bandied about all the time, so I think you should watch the demonstration video where they put the screen up against a hammer. Lucky for you, I?ve embedded it for you below.

If you?ve ever had to replace a screen in any of your handheld devices, you?ll know (or at least have read the warnings) how fragile they are. This new screen is clearly an improvement. I can?t tell you the amount of times I?ve accidentally whacked my new TFT with a hammer. Countless.

However, I?m not sure if this new screen includes the all-important (and just as breakable) digitiser. The digitiser is the panel that sits in front of the display, and translates your touch into input for your phone. It?s the bit that usually breaks first when you drop your phone, so I really hope that this new technology fixes that problem, too.

Power looms laborers protest in Faisalabad

Power looms laborers protest in Faisalabad FAISALABAD: Faisalabad is witnessing strike today on appeal by Labor Qaumi Movement to demand the raise in wages, Geo News reported Tuesday.

The laborers of power looms initiated strike this morning with strong protests as the deadline for wages raise came to end today.

In Sadhaar area of the city, the laborers clashed with factory guards in bid to get the factory shut down. Later on, a factory, motorbike and a car were set on fire.

In the meantime, various incidents of clashes between power looms laborers, factory owners and police personnel, took place in several areas, where people including factory owners were injured.

The efforts are afoot with shelling to break up the crowds of laborers. Also, various people have been arrested during this while.

Council of Looms Owners Chairman Waheed called an emergency meeting of power looms owners to mull over the present situation.

The laborers demand 17 percent hike in their wages. Contrarily, the owners said it is impossible for them to raise their wages in view of load shedding and raise in prices of raw materials.

Want to eat plastic? Eat margarine: research

Want to eat plastic? Eat margarine: research BOSTON: There was a time when butter was the bad boy of the civilised world; it was held responsible for strokes, heart attacks and other conditions. Margarine was supposed to be the healthier alternative and came to be eaten by fit, healthy people and those who cared about their cholesterol levels. But now, new studies have made shocking revelations.

In fact, margarine has the same number of calories as butter! Therefore, eating margarine instead of butter doesn't help us either lose weight or reduce the number of calories we consume. What we have been hearing all this time has been marketing hype, a ploy to increase sales and fatten the bottom lines of large multi-national companies.

What is really alarming is that another study has been published in which researchers have proven that the only difference between margarine and plastic is one molecule! Yes, margarine is just a molecule away from being plastic. This means that we are effectively melting plastic to spread on our waffles and toast each morning.

Margarine also has higher LDL, which is the bad kind of cholesterol. What's more, margarine is known to be higher in fatty acids, tripling the chances of getting heart disease. Studies have now revealed that margarine increases the risk of cancer and reduces our immunity, insulin and the quality of breast milk in a lactating mother.

The only redeeming factor that margarine has is that we consume only 5 grams of saturated fat when we eat it, compared to 8 grams of saturated fat in the equivalent quantity of butter. This is the only point in which margarine scores over butter.

A Harvard Medical Study has been published, in which it was discovered that if women consume the same amount of margarine as butter, then they actually increase their risk of heart disease by more than 50%! This means that butter is much better than margarine.

Butter is better in many other ways too. For example, when you consume butter, it helps you to absorb nutrients from other foods too. Butter also helps you strengthen your bones and gives you many other types of nutrition. Also, it is known to taste better than any flavour of margarine!

Parachuting donkey shocks Russian beachgoers

Parachuting donkey shocks Russian beachgoers MOSCOW: Russian beachgoers got a shock when they saw a donkey soaring in the blue skies over the balmy beaches on the Sea of Azov in southern Russia last week, police said on Tuesday.

Attached to a parachute, the animal screamed in fear as it circled over heads of holidaymakers sunbathing on a beach in the Cossack village of Golubitskaya in the Krasnodar region last week.

A regional police spokeswoman said the donkey ended up in the skies as a result of an impromptu advertising campaign by several Russian entrepreneurs to attract beachgoers to their private beach.

Instead, they attracted the attention of regional police who learned of the flying donkey earlier this week and launched a probe.

"The donkey screamed and children cried," regional police spokeswoman Larisa Tuchkova said. "No-one had the brains to call police."

Instead, she said, people reached for their cameras and bombarded a local newspaper with phone calls.

"It was put up so high into the sky that the children on the beach cried and asked their parents: "Why did they tie a doggy to a parachute?" the newspaper, Taman, said this week.

"The donkey landed in an atrocious manner: it was dragged several metres along the water, after which the animal was pulled out half-alive onto the shore."

Five best discoveries in astronomy over the past 20 years

Launch Pad Workshop report: Five best discoveries in astronomy over the past 20 yearsCecilia Tan just completed Launch Pad, a science fiction writers workshop where authors take seminars with astronomers and astrophysicists to improve the science in their fiction. This is the first of two reports from the workshop.
Space exploration was one of the Big Ideas that drove the progenitors of the science fiction genre. In more recent decades, advances in other disciplines have dominated, like genetic engineering and paleontology (Jurassic Park, anyone?). Jumps in computing and neuroscience spawned cyberpunk in the 1980s. But we always return to the mother ship, as it were, as the popularity of "planetary romance" a la Avatar remains constant, and the wonder of looking up and wondering "what's out there" is still a primal human activity.
As it turns out, the past twenty years have seen huge advances in the field of astronomy and space exploration. Since many sf writers last took Astronomy 101 in college, Hubble has been launched, landers have reached the moon, and significant flybys of the solar system have taken place. How is a self-respecting science fiction writer supposed to keep up?
One way is through the Launch Pad writers workshop, an annual gathering of the genre's best and brightest at University of Wyoming, convened by astronomy professor and novelist Mike Brotherton. Each year about a dozen writers can attend this NASA-funded "crash course" in astronomy. The idea is that if fiction writers could get the science right, the general public will be better educated about things like black holes, space travel, and so on.
1. Extra-solar planets.
"Alien planets" have been a staple of science fiction from the very beginning, but until recently we had no actual evidence that planets outside the Solar system existed. Now we have irrefutable evidence that there are planets orbiting other stars. The Hubble Space Telescope and other advanced instruments have been able to detect the nearly indetectable wobble of stars caused by planets in orbit.
2. The moon was formed by a planetary fender-bender.
20 years ago three competing theories prevails on how Earth got a moon. Either the moon was formed at the same time as Earth, was captured as it passed by, or blooped or broke off. Well, turns out all three are wrong, and that only the Collision Theory explains everything we know about our satellite and our own planet (like why the Moon has no core and why the Earth is relatively more dense than expected). Computer modeling shows that a body the size of Mars struck the young Earth in a glancing blow, melting the planet and throwing off a heap of stuff. The original body was absorbed into the Earth while the stuff that was tossed into orbit coalesced into the moon.
3. Although our moon wasn't captured, Phoebe was.
The capture theory isn't all hogwash, though. Phoebe, one of the moons of Saturn, was probably a capture for a number of reasons. For one thing, it spins the wrong way compared to Saturn's other satellites and for its size is quite unexpectedly distant from Saturn. The Cassini-Huygens Probe flew past Phoebe in 2004 and showed it likely to be a Centaur, an icy planetoid from the Kuiper belt, rather than an asteroid as some earlier theories ran, based on gainy Voyager photos.
4. Venus is orange.
Pulp sci-fi and our own imaginations have always led people to think of Venus as if it were green, like a lush jungle. After all, we've been told it's hot and steamy there. But Venus has always been completely shrouded in an opaque atmosphere, so speculation was all we had. That is, until the Venera spacecraft landed on the surface. The lander lasted about 20 minutes before the intense heat got to it, but that was long enough to beam back photographs and other data showing for the first time that Venus is orange.
5. Water, water, everywhere.
Astrobiologists believe that anywhere water exists, there is the possibility for life. Until recently, though, we had no evidence that there was water anywhere but on Earth. Thanks to the Cassini-Huygens mission, though, we know that Titan (one of Saturn's moons) is rife with water and ice, including massive water "volcanoes." Cryovulcanism also occurs on Enceladus, another of Saturn's moons. A bit closer to home, there's water on Mars, and scientists were surprised to find water on our own Moon.
Cassini is still orbiting arond Saturn, some Mars rovers that were supposed to run down years ago are still operating, and new missions are being planned all the time, so look for even more advances in space science in the next decade.

Pakistan May Launch New Satellite Next Year

Pakistan is planning to replace PAKSAT-1 with a new communication satellite PAKSAT-1R and hopefully it will be launched on August 14, 2011. The satellite will support all conventional and modern Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) applications, will use the geostationary orbit, and acquire a constant height of 36,000km above the surface of earth crust.
Manager PAKSAT (SUPARCO) Waseem-ul Hassan in an interview with APP said that the satellite will have a total of up to 30 transponders and life time of the satellite would be 15 years. Giving some more details about the satellite, he said it would carry the communication pay-load that consists of internet broadband, TV channels distributions, tele-medicine and tele-education.
He mentioned that work on the project is started with full bloom, and the measurements are taken to make it perfect and a long-term loans are also made for this project. Manager PAKSAT said, as per the technology achievements in the region, Pakistan has to make fast and competitive progress in the technology of space sciences. Some more satellites would also be launched in the next years by Pakistan, he added.
“It is a right time for Pakistan to make such progresses while the eyes of world are on us”. In future such contributions, that make the Pakistan in every field a proud one, will be made and always be made for not only to assist Pakistani nation but to give a big helping hand to whole humanity, he maintained.

NUST Students Prepare Brain Controlled Robotic Arm

robot arm NUST Students Prepare Brain Controlled Robotic ArmHandicaps are always considered integrated part in every society. So most people don’t even think of making something useful for such people but there are minds which always think out the box.
They think how can we use our God gifted talent to serve other humans, which bring true value to society as Einstein said “Try not to become a man of successful but rather a man of value”.
کوئی قابل ہو تو ہم اسے شان کہی دیتے ہیں
ڈھونڈنے والوں کو دنیا نئی دیتے ہیں
This is a verse by Allama Iqbal which conveys message from God to a common man that “If you’re talented and you work hard you’ll be rewarded”.  It’s rightly said that “Human brains have powers beyond measures”. This statement has been proven by a group of Pakistani students from NUST University who recently invented Brain Controlled Artificial Robotic Hand.
This Robotic Hand is very simple to operate and it’s a blessing for handicapped people.  Just connect some sensors with your arm, now whatever you think in your brain regarding the movement of your arm this robotic arm will follow your brain’s order.
These kinds of projects are very rare and expensive in the world but Pakistani students maashaaAllah with their talent and hard work proved again that when we work for what we desire we get what we need.

Talking about Katrina's hottest song yet Farah says, "You will see Katrina in an all new avatar. She has never looked this hot. Audiences are in for a treat."

Sources also reveal that Katrina Kaif who is currently shooting in Spain is working hard on her physique and adhering to a special diet for the song.

Reveals a production source, "Farah is known for creating iconic film songs. She revealed Shah Rukh Khan's six packs in Dard-E-Disco and this time round she is going to exhibit to audiences Katrina Kaif's hottest side yet as she gyrates to the song Sheela ki jawani."

Katrina Kaif is soon to scorch screens this December in Farah Khan's TEES MAAR KHAN also starring Akshay Kumar.

Hrithik in PAANI? The mystery deepens...

Is Hrithik Roshan confirmed as the lead protagonist in Shekhar Kapur's futuristic saga PAANI? Or is he not? This has been the question making the rounds of the industry circles ever since his last venture KITES got tangled at the box office. Since no official confirmation has come in from either the director or the actor, there is no absolute certainty around the two joining hands for this multi million dollar film which would be shot in India.

When contacted, Sidhartha Jain, CEO with iROCK and Executive Producer with Shekhar Kapur on PAANI, also chose to keep silent around the entire 'issue'.

"As of now, we are not commenting on the casting of the film", he says, "For any big high profile project like this, there are always quite a few gossips that float around. However, all of this would be settled in due course of time."

To make matters worse, the biggest setback for Hrithik came from the mainstream international release of the 'Remix' version of KITES. After the 'desi version' didn't make any impact in India, the edited version wasn't any better as there were absolutely no takers. This was heart breaking for the makers because 'firang' audience was indeed the target audience here if English and Spanish treatment was any indication. Naturally, the failure of both the versions meant that for the English speaking audience, Hrithik was still not the most viable option that a Hollywood film maker could have contemplated.

"This is the reason why a question is being raised again around whether Hrithik stays on to be the best choice for PAANI," says a trade follower, "Yes, he has the fan following, charisma and most importantly goodwill in the industry. None of that has been lost even after KITES. In fact, he still has a great market hold, as seen from the terrific opening that the film took. However, as far as his stint with hardcore international cinema like PAANI is concerned, it is still going to be a wait and watch situation."

Well, we indeed are waiting to catch hold of the facts once Shekhar Kapur decides to unveil the film's casting.

Hrithik, Farhan, Abhay chased by bulls

For a scene in ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol were seen running from the bulls. Shooting in Spain, the trio was dressed in traditional red and white costumes.

ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is being directed by Zoya Akhtar and also stars Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin. The film is a male bonding road story, about four friends. It is believed to be on the lines of Farhan Akhtar's DIL CHAHTA HAI.

'Knock Out' has been shifted to 1st Oct

The forthcoming weeks are choc-a-bloc with new releases. If you glance at our 'Release Dates' chart [which is updated every week without fail], you will notice that in several weeks, two or more films will be vying for public attention, which, frankly, cannot be helped either, given the flow of new films in the forthcoming days.

Initially, Karan Johar's WE ARE FAMILY, Arbaaz Khan's first production DABANGG and Sohail Maklai's KNOCK OUT were confirmed for 10th September [Eid week]. But Sohail Maklai has decided to shift his film ahead by three weeks, which means that KNOCK OUT, starring Sanjay Dutt, Irrfan and Kangna Ranaut, will now arrive on 1st October.

Confirms Sohail, "Had KNOCK OUT released in the Eid week, we wouldn't have got Sanju's dates to promote the film, since he's shooting out of town. By shifting the film ahead, we are not merely avoiding clashing with two major films, but will also have actors devoting ample time to promote and market our film." Wise move indeed!

'Khatta Meetha' & 'OUATIM' are borrowed from real life

Real characters and real stories are in. And the next two weeks will indicate how the audience react to entertainers that borrow from real life. The pre-release reports of KHATTA MEETHA and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI are super-hot, with the distributors acquiring the films for excellent prices. In fact, if the films succeed [one genuinely hopes, they do!], it will pave way for films that the common man can relate to.

Talking of KHATTA MEETHA, the Akshay-Priyadarshan combo has mostly collaborated on non-stop laughathons, but their new outing together, KHATTA MEETHA, has an interesting premise and is laced with straight-out-of-life situations. "I am glad the promos are radiating the right signals," Akshay tells me. Similarly, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI isn't the usual story that we've watched over and over again. Reportedly, both Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi have delivered powerful performances in this film, which is decorated with real-life incidents.

Note this new trend: More and more are actors ready to experiment with real roles, instead of taking the easy route by acting in frivolous movies.

Katrina, Abhishek to romance again

Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif would soon be seen together on the silver screen, after a hiatus of about five years. They will be seen as a couple, much in love with each other in as many as three forthcoming films.

They would be seen romancing together in the sequel Dostana 2 right after Katrina returns in the initial week of August so as to shoot for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif will shoot a song together in Mumbai, which will be followed by a long stint in London.

Earlier, the two actors have only done one movie together, Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar.

Katrina, however, reveals that she hardly knows Abhishek, but whatever little she knows, she has liked and is excited to do projects with him.

Kareena goes against Saif

The size zero Kareena Kapoor will be back. Kareena who has gained some weight recently will again sweat out to get into size zero figure. Bebo has experienced several odd instances of rigorous work-out and dieting like collapsing on the set, dizziness and so on. All those incidents did not go well with Saif Ali Khan and he strictly restricted Bebo from going back to size zero. But the actress went against Saif?s wording and started working out rigorously for her next film opposite Imran Khan.

The film in question is Karan Johar?s ?Short Term Shaadi? which is an adaptation of Cameron Diaz-Ashton Kutcher starrer ?What Happened in Vegas?. To match up to Imran Khan?s looks, Karan asked her not only to cut her size but also to short her hair.

Kareena?s decision upset her beau as she has signed the project against Saif?s decision.

Both Imran and Kareena are not reluctant to spill the beams. When asked about the project, Imran quips, "I?m not at liberty to discuss anything about the film right now.?.

Ali Zafar’s ‘Tere Bin Laden’ Business Picked Up Dramatically During Weekend (Box-Office Report)

Three Indian movies – Tere Bin Laden, Udaan and Lamhaa and two English movies – Inception and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice released on the same day i.e 16th July. But even after getting support from the leading faces of the Indian cinema (like Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor) and even after getting rave reviews, Tere Bin Laden starring Ali Zafardoes an average opening at Box Office mostly because of Christopher Nolan (of Memento, Prestige & Batman Series fame)’s highly anticipated ‘Inception’ that stole the show, from East to West, from North to South. In fact, the film fetched a fantastic start from its first show onwards, eclipsing the Indian releases completely. Tere Bin Laden wasn’t expected to start with a bang at the International market, primarily because it stared a new face for them and also because Leonardo DiCaprio’s film ‘Inception’ was also releasing on the same day.
According to leading trade analyst of India, Tere Bin Laden started on a 15% to 20% to 25% note in the morning and noon shows, it picked up during the evening shows, since the word of mouth is extremely positive. The several distributors and exhibitors were unanimous that the film should pick up further on the coming days. The film is still being considered as a hit in UAE and India, mainly because it was made on a moderate budget of $2million USD.
On having conversation with a renowned musician, Shahvar Ali Khan, on the situation, he said
An opening of 25% without big star presence & an opposition such as INCEPTION is insane! Trust me, this movie will keep growing with word of mouth
Still after getting an average opening, TBL has managed to recover all its investment within a night of its release.
