Muslims love the country, not worship it
Swamy Lakshmi Narayan Shankaracharya said, "those who insist that Muslims must say or sing Vande Mataram are putting humanity to shame." Sambhal: ?Payam-e-Insaaniyat? (Message of humanity) Forum organised inter-faith meetings at various places like Muradabad, Sambhal etc in order to promote communal harmony and to highlight moral teaching and aspects of different religions. In one such meeting at Sambhal on 30 May which was chaired by Muslim Personal Law Board?s and Payam-e-Insaaniyat Forum?s President Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi, Swami Lakshmi Narayan, Shankaracharya from Kanpur was the Chief Guest. Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi said that Muslims should spread God?s message to all His creations revealed through His Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) so that no one should be deprived of this message. All other speakers like Maulana Aalam Nadwi, D.M. Sharma, Dr. U.C. Saxena, Ved Prakashji laid emphasis on promoting mutual love and brotherhood and called upon the people to follow the principle of ?live and let live?.
Swamy Lakshmi Narayan Shankaracharya in his speech pointed out the similarities between Islam and Sanatan Dharm. He said that the way Islam gives the message of peace in the same way it strongly opposes extremism and hence a believer in Islam can never be an extremist, adding that falsely accusing 30 crore Muslims of India of being terrorists is totally wrong. He said that Muslims greatly love and respect Prophet but they cannot and do notworship him. In the same way in Islam, Paradise lies beneath the feet of mother but a Muslim cannot worship his mother. He only loves her. Exactly in the same way a Muslim loves his country or motherland but cannot worship it and those who insist that Muslims must say or sing Vande Mataram are putting humanity to shame.
In his presidential address, Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi called upon Muslims to protect humanity and promote humanism, avoid extravagance because Islam opposes it and instead, adopt thrift. They should follow the teachings of Qur?an. He said what is needed today is that Muslims should lead their life in a simple and honest manner as enjoined in Islam and shun western ways of life.
