England win by a massive 121 runs, wrapping up their sixth series win of a very successful summer. They were simply too strong for Pakistan today. Shoaib Akhtar was exemplary with the new ball once again, and England were in trouble before Morgan and Collingwood, and then Morgan and Bresnan, revived the innings. Morgan reached his second hundred in consecutive appearances at the Rose Bowl, and 257 was always going to be a stiff chase. Hafeez and Kamran Akmal launched Pakistan's pursuit with gusto, but once their stand was broken England took the upper hand and never eased up. Swann did the expected by striking in his first over, and Pakistan's middle order crumbled as the pressure mounted. Despite the controversy that's accompanied it, the cricket in this series has been riveting and the players from both sides line up on the boundary to shake hands as England walk off victorious.
Shahid Afridi: "I want to congratulate the English team, these guys played really well. Despite all the controversies our guys improved day by day and game by game. Eoin Morgan and Graeme Swann played really well for England today. My boys really bowled well on this wicket, but the way Swann bowled, he really bowled well. The main positive thing I can take from this tour is the way we played and the way we were united. Winning and losing is one thing but it's important to stay united." Eoin Morgan is Man of the Match: "It's a massive bonus to finish on a high here, it sums up our summer as a whole. I've thoroughly enjoyed it. With a lot of world class players in the side it's easy to gel with the team and express yourself." Do you expect to see your name in the Ashes squad? "No I don't expect anything. If it comes it comes." Andrew Strauss is the Player of the Series: "I've tried to be a bit more aggressive and a bit more attacking and as captain you have to lead from the front in that regard." Six series wins this summer: "It's a pretty good effort, I think we've done really well. We've had to dig pretty deep at times, particularly in this series which is one of the hardest I've played in. But we stuck together. We can't wait [for the Ashes]. In some ways this summer prepared us as we had to deal with quite a lot, and we'll have to deal with a lot this winter." A jubilant England side have the series trophy and plenty of champagne in their hands. They look delighted at the win and a touch relieved that this long summer - one of the longest international summers on record - has come to an end. They'll have a break now before their pre-Ashes bootcamp. That series will be England's whole focus now and they'll be a battle-hardened unit after this testing home season. |

| 18.1 130.2 kph, Wright strikes! Kamran falls, lbw. Huge appeal, and he's given! Kamran really isn't happy, he doesn't want to go ... and HotSpot shows an inside edge, so that's very unlucky for him. But he's got to go 80/3
|
| Mohammad Hafeez | c Collingwood b Broad | 29 | 52 | 42 | 5 | 0 | 69.04 |
| 12.4 144.5 kph, vintage Collingwood, migraine or no migraine, great catch at backward point! It was short and rising outside off and Hafeez launched into a cut, but couldn't keep it down. Colly leapt to his right, plucking the ball out of the air, and England make the breakthrough! Hafeez is unhappy as he trudges off, he seems to be suggesting to Kamran that the ridiculous running broke his concentration 63/1
|
| Asad Shafiq | c †Davies b Broad | 0 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0.00 |
| 12.5 137.1 kph, gone first ball! Caught behind! What a ball to get first up, Broad has been moving them in through the air but this one hit the seam - off a good length - and moved towards the slips. Shafiq hardly moved his feet, getting a thin edge, and Davies did the rest. Broad is on a hat-trick! 63/2

| Mohammad Yousuf | b Swann | 20 | 63 | 43 | 0 | 0 | 46.51 |
| 27.4 84.8 kph, what a beauty! Swann, what a bowler he is, spins this between Yousuf's bat and pad. Another stunner from the finest spinner in the world. Yousuf was looking to push into the off side, but was defeated all ends up 104/5
|
| Fawad Alam | b Swann | 1 | 6 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 20.00 |
| 19.5 86.3 kph, what a ball! Swann strikes with his fifth ball of the match, and what a delivery it was. Tossed up, drifting towards the pad, dipping, gripping and spinning past Alam's uncertain push. Undone in the flight, beaten by the turn 83/4
|
| Umar Akmal | c & b Collingwood | 19 | 54 | 34 | 1 | 0 | 55.88 |
| 32.3 118.3 kph, Collingwood strikes with his third ball! Umar was looking to attack, driving hard back at the bowler but the ball just stopped on the surface and he pushed it in the air straight back to Colly. It was hit pretty hard - and Collingwood juggled the catch - but he held on and that's probably the last nail for Pakistan 121/7
|
| Shahid Afridi* | b Swann | 0 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0.00 |

| Umar Gul | run out (†Davies/Swann) | 6 | 8 | 13 | 1 | 0 | 46.15 |
| 35.2 from Swann, terrible running! The pressure was building but they really didn't need this. Gul played with the turn to short fine leg, Razzaq wanted the run but Gul hesitated before setting off, the throw came in to Swann and he whipped the bails off at the non-striker's end with Gul well short 130/8
|
| Saeed Ajmal | run out (Morgan) | 2 | 6 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 100.00 |
| 36.4 Broad to Abdul Razzaq, there goes another one! Ajmal is run out, Razzaq drove a fullish ball to Morgan in the covers and set off for a single. Hesitation from both batsmen but Ajmal eventually tries to take the run, Morgan hurls in a shy right on target and he's not even in the frame. Just one more needed by England 135/9
|
| Shoaib Akhtar | c Morgan b Broad | 0 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0.00 |
| 36.6 146.2 kph, that's it, all over now! Pakistan fold with a whimper as Shoaib backs to leg, Broad follows him and Shoaib shuts his eyes and fends... a leading edge loops into the covers and fittingly Eoin Morgan takes the catch that wins the match and seals the series for England 135/10
