KP celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr today


The ‘Shawwal’ moon was not sighted in any part of the country on Thursday and Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday (Sept 11).
But the announcement of Shawwal moon sighting made by zonal committee in Peshawar yesterday, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today with traditional fervour and gaiety.
After a meeting at Masjid Qasim Khan, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai said that 18 witnesses including 2 women had recorded their evidence about sighting the
moon. Therefore, Friday would be the first day of Shawwal.
Provincial Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour yesterday said that Eidul Fitr will be on Friday. The government will celebrate the festival with simplicity.
