Britain’s Prince Charles officially opened the troubled Commonwealth Games in New Delhi on Sunday after a chaotic buildup.
The 19th edition of the event, for mainly former British colonies has suffered negative headlines after an outbreak of dengue, poor hygiene in the athletes village, the collapse of a bridge near the main stadium and a number of athletes withdrawing because of health and security fears.
The 12-day Games, which run until October 14, feature 71 nations and
territories competing in 17 sports. |
