Lindsay Lohan out of Inferno

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has been dropped from Inferno, the Linda Lovelace bio-pic which was being touted as her big comeback after years of personal woes and legal troubles.

The 24-year-old actress who is currently in court-ordered rehab to cure her addiction to cocaine, was dropped from the project because of "the impossibility of insuring her".

Matthew Wilder who will direct the film about the late porn star, had a month earlier announced his decision to stick by the actress but has now changed his mind, reported New York Post online.

Lohan was originally supposed to start filming this month and the film charting Lovelace's success in the porn industry, was tipped at the starlet's chance of a comeback. Wilder has confirmed that he withdrew Lohan's offer after an LA judge ordered the actress to complete an extended stay in rehab.

"We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan. We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately the impossibility of insuring her and some other issues have made it impossible for us to go forward," said Wilder.

After failing a drug test Lohan narrowly escaped jail time for a probation violation stemming from her 2007 arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

She has been ordered to stay in rehab until January 3.
