9th Muharram processions being held



Extensive security arrangements have been put in place by the authorities as the faithful hold Muharram 9 processions across the country on Thursday.
To commemorate the great sacrifice rendered by the martyrs of Karbala, the mourning process are being held in almost every city.
The main process in federal capital would begin from the central Imam Bargah at G-6.
In Karachi, the largest procession began from the
Nishtar Park following a Majlis. The procession would take its tradition route and pass through Numaish Chowrangi, Sea Breeze plaza, Empress Market and MA Jinnah Road and would culminate at Hussainiyan Iranian at Kharadar.
Earlier, a mourning procession was taken out from Liaqatabad area of provincial metropolis had joined the main Majlis at Nishtar Park. The procession had passed through Teen Hatti, Jail Chowrangi, Jamshed Road and Gurumandir areas.
In Lahore, the mourners started their procession from Krishan Nagar which would end at Old Anarkali while in Peshawar, the procession was taken out from Hussaniya Hall Sadar.
Foolproof security measure have been taken across the country to ensure law and order during the mourning processions. In addition to the heavy contingent of police and security forces in the sensitive areas, forces have also increased their petrol in those areas.
