Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian alive again, thanks to billionaire

Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian who gave up social networking until their fans raised $1 million for charity, were "alive" on Twitter and Facebook after a billionaire pitched in $ 500,000 towards the goal.

After about a week of launching the campaign they still hadn't reached their goal. So on Monday, pharmaceutical entrepreneur Stewart Rahr pitched in $500,000, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"I'm back from the dead! Thank you all so much for your donations and contributions! I have missed u all so much," tweeted Kardashian, who can earn $ 10,000 per sponsored tweet.

The proceeds go to Alicia Keys' Keep a Child Alive foundation charity and 3,600 people had donated.

When the fund-raising effort was first announced, it was expected that the goal will be reached that in a short time since Gaga alone has more than 7.2 million followers on Twitter.

"Although we never expected to raise $ 1 million overnight, we are completely blown away that we were able to achieve our goal in less than a week," the organization said in a statement.
