Don't sing my songs: JLo to American Idol contestants

Pop diva Jennifer Lopez, the newest judge on the panel for American Idol, has warned the contestants not to imitate and sing her songs on the reality show.

The Love don't cost a thing hitmaker, who joined the judging panel in September after the departure of long-time judge and show co-founder Simon Cowell, found it "entertaining" when people performed on her hits, but has advised the hopefuls to try a different approach as they won't get any special treatment, Contactmusic reported.

"It was cute, super entertaining and flattering, but no. I think everyone tried to be as honest as they can without breaking anyone's spirits. They know we're not out to cut them down or make a joke of them. We're trying to mentor them to the next step," said the singer-and-actress.

Although some hopefuls have failed to impress the star, Lopez is excited about the talent in the star-search show even though the lengthy audition process is taking a toll on her life.

"We've put a bunch of people through - probably more than they have in the past. We have about 15-20 real superstars, people who could be recording artists. I've cried. We get a lot of elation when we put them through and devastation, almost, when they're not. But it's been a ball," said the 41-year-old singer.

The dusky babe, known for her exotic style sense has promised to don some amazing outfits on the show. "Look, I'm just going to be me. Every day that's something different. I like getting dressed up. That's not going to change for this show," she said speaking at a press conference for the show.
