Queen Elizabeth II and the British royal family On FaceBook Now

The Queen is joining the likes of US President Barack Obama in launching her very own Royal page on Facebook.

British Monarchy Facebook page
Those who 'like' the page will be able to write comments on the Royal wall

From Monday, social media fans will be able to see the latest Royal pictures, videos, news and speeches as soon as they are posted.
There will even be an application to allow social network users to search for Royal events in their area and read up on the Monarch's previous engagements.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to "poke" her Majesty, but
you will be able to share your thoughts by writing on the wall.
There is just as much interest in the Queen (as pop stars) and I think it's a really good development.
Social media expert Tony Beresford
The Queen is perhaps Britain's most famous internet user. She has embraced technology and is said to email her grandchildren.
But Prince Philip is thought to be the real fan of computers and the internet, using them regularly.
Speaking to Sky News Online, social media expert Tony Beresford said he believes there is a high demand for a Royal Facebook page.
"If you look at pop stars and celebrities, their Facebook pages are some of the most successful," he said.
"There is just as much interest in the Queen and I think it's a really good development."
The Facebook page will be the latest in a series of social media launches by the Royal Household.
A Monarchy Flickr account was launched earlier in the year, following the Royal Twitter account in 2009 and a Royal Channel on YouTube in 2007.
The page has been created as a three-way collaboration between Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and the Royal Collection.
