“Social Network” writer Aaron Sorkin took the award for best adapted screenplay from the group that represents U.S. film and television writers.”The Social Network” had already won Golden Globe Awards, for Best Picture (in the drama category), Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin), Score (Trent Reznor), and Director (David Fincher).

The winners come after the likes of Oscar nominees “The King’s Speech,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Toy Story 3,” and “Another Year” all had their scripts disqualified due to the WGA’s controversial rules, which cuts out scripts that don’t follow the guild’s complicated “Minimum Basic Agreement, or the agreements of several affiliated international guilds.”
