US to submit evidence on Davis’ immunity

The United States would provide the evidence of detained national’s diplomatic immunity to Pakistani court, British media reported on Tuesday.
The US administration insists that detained US national, who fatally shot dead two Pakistani citizens in Lahore last month, is a member of diplomatic mission and, therefore, enjoys immunity under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961) to which Islamabad is a signatory.
According to the BBC, US State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters in Washington that
documentary evidence would be presented before the Pakistani court on Thursday.
He said Raymond Davis was a diplomat and it was Islamabad’s responsibility to immediately release him.
The United States respected international commitments and expected the same from all the countries including Pakistan, he added.
