Davis doesn’t have blanket immunity: Qureshi


Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Raymond Davis does not have blanket immunity.
Speaking at news conference after meeting with US senator John Kerry, Qureshi said that the nation wants conscientious decision on Davis case.
He said that officers at the Foreign Ministry had briefed him that the U.S. accused does not enjoy complete diplomatic immunity.
Responding to allegations of being sympathetic to former president Pervez Musharraf. Qureshi said that he
sided with Benazir Bhutto when asked to join Musharraf.
I refused to release funds for Musharraf referendum, Qureshi said.
Mehmood Qureshi said that he will never disappoint the nation, side with truth. He said that as foreign minister he was instructed to keep mum over Davis case.
I may have suffer consequences of speaking truth, said Qureshi.
Qureshi said that he will offer himself for accountability to the party leadership. Issue should be resolved with dignity and law.
He said that Pakistan-US both need each other. Pak-US dialogue upgraded on his insistence.
On the other hand, Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry has contradicted media reports about any pronouncement, public or official, made by the Foreign Ministry relating to the question of immunity of Raymond Davis.
“Speculation in this regard is unfounded,” a brief of Foreign Ministry said.
