Lok Virsa, Ministry of Culture is planning to hold an entertainment-cum-cultural festival on Chand Raat with special emphasis to generate funds for the flood affected children.
According to the organizers, a number of local artists from Islamabad – Rawalpindi have confirmed their participation in the festival.
Those who will perform include Javaid Niazi, Babar Niazi, Muhammad Ali, Rukhsana Murtaza, Mehfooz Khokhar, Shaukat Manzoor, Qurban Niazi, Salman Adil, Akhtar Hussain, Rizwana and Husnain Pasha.
National puppet theatre and dance troupe of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will also take part in the festival.
Executive Director Lok Virsa, Khalid Javaid said, “We are grateful to all the artists, musicians and performers as well as PNCA administration for responding to our call to contribute for this noble cause”.
Explaining background of the festival, Khalid Javaid told that a meeting was held in the Ministry of Culture during the last week of August wherein it was desired by the Minister and Secretary Culture that maximum efforts should be made by all cultural bodies including Lok Virsa to raise funds for the flood victims.
Chand Raat festival is an initiative of Lok Virsa in this direction, he added.
Giving details about the contributions, Khalid Javaid said, “Rotary Club Green City Islamabad has pledged to provide 1,000 gift packs, PODA NGO has contributed about Rs. 20,000 in terms of different items and money, Lok Virsa officers and their families have also
donated cash worth Rs. 70,000. Friends of Lok Virsa are also actively participating in this charity.
ED Lok Virsa has appealed to the residents of the twin cities to attend the festival and contribute for creating some beautiful moments in the disturbed lives of the flood affected children.
People can donate money or food/entertainment items for the children as token of their participation, he added. |
