Overall power production scales down by 1000 megawatt

Overall power production has been scaled down by 1000 megawatt due to reduction in gas supply to power plants running on gas being supplied from zam zama gas in the flood affected district Dadu in Sindh.

According to PEPCO spokesman gas supply from Zamzama field had been adversely affected due to devastations caused by flood in district Dadu.
Sources told gas supply had been affected in respect of 8 power plants which included KEPCO, Fouji, Orient, Kabirwala power plants and others. Short supply of gas will lead to increase in power shortfall by 1000 megawatts. Load shedding is likely to increase slightly against the
backdrop of short supply of gas to power plants.
Power shortfall has shot up to 2973 megawatt against the demand of 16721 megawatt. As per PEPCO spokesman overall power production was recorded 13748 megawatt, however, 750 megawatt power was supplied to Karachi Electricity Supply Company.
According to spokesman PEPCO acquired 6481 megawatt power from hydal power plants, 1994 megawatt from thermal, 5211 megawatt from IPPs and 62 megawatt from RPPs.
